Due to oversaturation, we have broken the nerd alert.

UPDATE: Saw this and could NOT help but post it up. NERD.

Star Trek?, yes I guess your right. I just watched the new movie late the other evening then proceeded to watch it again with the commentary on. Uh yeah I am a nerd.

Huzzah for Star Trek nerds. I used to bring my Star Trek magazines to my junior high band class, I kid you not.

High school is just awful, isn't it? I feel bad for the students I teach, having to go through it. Oh well. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

I truly believe this is the Era of Nerdocity. With the onset of the internet, we have discovered that we are not alone! We Nerds are many strong—we can fight against the monotony of popular culture. We can band together in our fervent love all things strange and/or childish.

Except now...our culture is becoming popular. Arg. Who'd have thought being a Nerd would become cool? Now I'm gonna have to start playing sports so I can be a rebel again! Crap.

I know! It's a crazy double edged sword, isn't it? I once heard-say the definition of a true nerd is anyone, really who clings to a less popular belief or interest in the face of an overwhelming majority. So be it Star Trek, sports, Ralph Nader or what have you, we'll always have the opportunity to be some sort of nerd. And yes, thank goodness for teh interwebs which give cool nerdy people like us a space to spread out. :)

Stephanie, kudos on being a high school teacher. Serious. It's tough enough going through it, but teaching it? You people are saints.

And Heather, remember that one time long ago where we couldn't decided between staying up late to watch Star Trek, Highlander or Star Wars? Oh wait, that was two weeks ago at Christmas. w00t!

I love you nerd sis.

Did I miss something? Is there a problem with being a nerd?

Susan --

Not among this crowd. In fact it's a requirement!

Marie --

There's a nerd alert? Why didn't anyone tell me this?

K. Marie Criddle said...

Ha! Matt's right, Susan. You're in good company here. And Matt, I was honestly TRYING to tell you about the nerd alert, but when I get near you it's WAY too loud to get a word in edgewise.

Zing! :)
